In Bronx, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across New York, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

Bronx is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Bronx follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Thank you Eddie for this custom Red Velvet cake that you made for my daughter. It was delicious and beautifully made icing just as pictured excepted.

E&L Bakery, located in Bronx, New York is an absolute standout since 1977! From the moment you step inside, the aroma of expertly baked goods sets the stage for an elevated experience. Definitely a must try! Itβs one of those rare spots where everything in the display case actually tastes as good as it looks. The owner Eddie and his staff go above and beyond to accommodate every customer 100% of the time. Itβs no wonder theyβre the #1 Bakery in New York! Give it a try you wonβt regret it. Itβs been our family go to, for 4 generations and counting. Try it!

I went there to get a cake for a special someone. I first ordered a cheese danish and it was extremely sweet and hard to swallow without a cup of water. I ordered the pineapple cheesecake and it looked beautiful, but when I cut it to share it. No one liked it, not only that but they couldnβt even finish the small piece given because it was overly sweet.

After my experience, I had to leave a review of the most seamless birthday treat experience Iβve ever had picking something up same day. I didnβt preorder anything, so I didnβt know what I was expecting after looking through the menu. Even though we knew what we wanted, upon walking in there was an array of so many good options from cakes (refrigerated as well!), cupcakes, cookies, condiments/accessories and even a small pantry section for a DIY moment. The store was clean and beautifully laid out with images featuring deals, experience and love for baking everywhere. The woman who attended us was efficient, thorough and warm for 9am on a Tuesday morning. Would highly recommend coming in person before setting any expectations but this was worth the money, thank you! *We threw our 6yr old a class cupcake party at her school and we got assorted flavors that were prepackaged and the frostings were even on theme. Love a good bakery!*

I have been going to this bakery for well over 10 years and was never disappointed, however this year I'm bothered by the service and whoever bakes/designs the cakes doesn't know what he is doing. My first failed experience was March 2026 where my daughter asked for a simple cake and the decorations and letters were meant to look sloppy, the baker claims he can't make the cake, he does not know how to write like that. Poor excuse. Just now, my son wanted a simple cake and the baker once again, persuaded my son to get a cake thag the baker knows how to make and not what my son wanted. Mind you it's a "customed cake".Then had the audacity to charge $6 extra for strawberry filling. I'm not a cake expert but I thought customer cakes would come with filling. I could understand if I requested a specialized filling, but a standard strawberry filling should not be extra charged. I said it back in March 2026 I would not come back to this bakery, however my decision is finalized today 4/19/26 I will never come back to this bakery unless it's under new management or the bakery hires a baker who knows what they are doing. Because clearly this baker is not qualified for the job. PS - EL Bakery
